Long Shadows: A Review
I just finished Long Shadows the other day and there are a lot of things I would like to say about it. As a Warriors book, I thought it was pretty good. In this thread, I'll discuss the things I liked and disliked and also give my thoughts on the Three and their parentage. Just remember that these are my opinions and I'm choosing to share thim with you. If you have something to say, say it just please don't be rude about it. Each person has their own opinion, this is mine.

What I Liked
Ancient History
>>> I loved the part of the book when Jaypaw travelled back in time. It was new and a much better way of telling us about the Tribe than StarClan telling him like they usually do. I also think the concept of the Three having past live in the Tribe very interesting. It also raises questions about them having lives in the future.
Murder/Drowning
>>> I'm not a violent person but this was something new for the Clans which made it interesting. Of course, cats have been killed before but a cat being murdered by one of it's own Clan? And trying to cover it up? AND NOT BEING A MAJOR VILLIAN??? This was deffinately something new in a series that is getting a little bit repetitive. I just hope that the murderer isn't Squirrelflight because that would be way too obvious. I have no idea who it could be BESIDES her but I hope it's NOT her.
Losing a Life
>>> I think that Erin Hunter must have lost track of the cats' ages because Mousefur must be ancient and Sandstorm, Dustpelt, Greystripe, and others must be headed to the Elder's den soon. Here's the evidence. Mousefur was a very young warrior at the begining of the series and now she's been an elder for how many books? How far behing can Sanstorm be(apprentice named Sandpaw at the begining of the series)? Firestar is also on the list of immortal cats. Honostly, Firestar bugs me now. I know he's trying to keep peace in the forest and be a good leader, and that's great, but it's not very interesting to read about. Firestar's losing of a life showed us that he is a mortal cat and that he can't go on living forever (actually, I read somewhere that he will die in the fourth and final series).
What I Didn't Like
Sol's Mysterious Disappearence
>>> Unless I'm making some huge mistake or missread something in the book, Sol was suposed to be a major part of the plot. So, how come he left ShadowClan so quitly? Why did his rule over ShadowClan last no more tha a quater of a book and was completely forgotten about by the end? There deffinatly needed to be more action with ShadowClan. They needed to invade a Clan, Sol needed to go down fighting, some cat had to remember it! I think this part of the book was way to small and independent.
I'll add to this is a remember stuff and as people comment but I can't remember anything else right now.
Predictions/Discussions
The Three
>>>My main theory for who the three are and who their mother is obvious in the books. The Three are Lionblaze, Hollyleaf, and Jayfeather and their mother and father are Leafpool and Crowfeather. Some other less probable theories that I'm not as sure of are that Tawneypelt's three kits are the Three (the are Firestar's son-in-law's siter's kits which in a very twisted way may make them the Three) and that Leafpool's mate may actually have been Ashfur (because he loved Squirrelflight so he'd probably like Leafpool and maybe Leafpool needed a shoulder to cry on after Crowfeather).
All in all, I think that the book was pretty good (deffinately better than some of the other books in the series). For a rating, I'd give this book a 7/10. I really hope that Sunrise is exciting, fast-paced, and a good ending to the Power of Three Series. Thanks for reading!
